Director Darrell Roodt and I met for coffee in Johannesburg's Rosebank Mall to discuss our first film project together. It's actually quite a big deal because this will be the first official co-production between China and South Africa.
It also have massive significance for the BRICS countries cultural collaboration initiative. We hope it'll be featured at the BRICS film festival.
The film is called Burning Love and it's a drama about two conservationists who fall in love while protecting endangered cranes in China's Qinghai province.
In order to participate in South Africa's rebate scheme, we will be shooting half the movie in SA, probably the Natal Midlands, and the rest in Qinghai, with the stunning Kunlun mountains in the background.
Production is scheduled to kick off in May 2019. Watch this space for more details.
Next time I'm there I'll give him my script!!!!
it's where great minds meet apparently
So, Rosebank is where the arty people hang out!
